Q. WHAT IS WWOOF?

A. WWOOF is a worldwide organization connecting organic farmers with volunteers wishing to live and/or work on the farm. WWOOF was originally an acronym for “Working Weekends On Organic Farms”. It has evolved over the years, and now stands for “World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms” (WWOOF USA FAQ).

Q. WHAT DO YOU GROW?

A. Knopp Branch farm has 58 raised beds and 10 field beds. We enjoy trying out new crops and narrowing in on our favorites to grow. There is a vineyard, citrus orchards, and fig, loquat, peach, blackberry, and muleberry trees on the property. In fall and winter, a vast variety of veggies can grow in coastal Texas, including kale, arugula, cabbage, broccoli, beets, garlic, onion, carrots, kohlrabi, leeks, potato, turnip, radish, cauliflower, and squash (to name a few). In the spring and summer months, the variety slows down a bit, but the cycle continues with peppers, tomatoes, okra, eggplant, melons, summer squash, and cucumbers.

Q. what does knopp branch mean?

A. Our property is adjacent to a branch of the Lavaca River known as “Knopp Branch”. It is the perfect spot to cool off or go for a kayak ride and enjoy some birding!
